Space You have access to the entire home and it's not shared with anyone! This lovely property has been home for my little family for nearly 10 years and we have had to regrettably find something larger after our 2nd child. But the place is so beautiful and there are so many wonderful memories in it that I would love for other guests - be it in town for business or pure pleasure - to take advantage of it and experience living in the middle of probably the most vibrant, trendy, techy and artsy neighbourhood in London, Shoreditch. My wider family still spends some time here occasionally, so please treat it with care and love as if it was your own. The flat has a total surface of 73 sqm over 2 floors and contains 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom upstairs and living room and separate kitchen. The building is a beautiful example of Edwardian architecture and is "listed", denoting its historical relevance. The living room (25sqm) is furnished with a lovely leather sofa (that opens into a bed) with chaise-long for a cozy evening in front of the TV and fireplace (with exposed brickwork), a 40'' Sony Flat LCD with DVD player, and a large dinner table with chairs. Two gorgeous and large sash windows provide plenty of light. We have superfast 100Megs wifi connection from Virgin Media. The kitchen (15sqm) is furnished with all necessary pots/pans/cutlery and a hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle/toaster and a small breakfast table. The bathroom is covered in pretty natural limestone and has a bath/shower and heated towel bar. Bedroom 1 is the largest of the 3 bedrooms (12 sqm) and has a comfy double bed and built-in cupboard with mirrors. Bedroom 2 is the smaller double bedroom (8sqm) and also has a double bed and built in closet. Bedroom 3 (6sqm) is furnished with a single bed and built-in shelves/storage space. The neighbours are all lovely, nice and quiet professionals and therefore I will ask you will not to have parties or disturb the peace - plenty of better places nearby to do that anyway. Although we love animals I would prefer not to have pets as the furniture is sparkling new. Neighbourhood overview Welcome to Old Street and the silicon roundabout! Old Street is the heart of new and old tech and web based start up businesses which have prospered. In this area you will find lots of impressive looking high rise offices, little supermarkets, pubs, bars and cafes. You will no doubt love the fact you are two stops from Kings Cross and Kings Cross St Pancras station (great if you are getting the train to London). My place is just a three minute walk from the station so it is perfect for business commuters and tourists alike as you can get to most places in London very quickly. Apart from Old Street itself, there are also so many other amazing neighbourhoods to visit which are right on your doorstep here - you are going to be spoilt for choice! Firstly, take a visit to nearby Angel. This area is one of the most charming districts in London. The main high street is called Upper Street and here you can find many acclaimed restaurants such as Wahaca and Ottolenghi, and cool bars such as The Bar With No Name. There are plenty of Britain's favourite chain stores and supermarkets here which are very convenient, but there are also cute independent shops and boutiques too further down Upper Street. If you want to explore past Angel, then you are conveniently located near to Shoreditch and the City (which are all to the south east of Angel). Shoreditch is a really cool and trendy area which is full of pop-up bars, clubs and restaurants. There is also the famous BoxPark here which is a little shopping area made from old shipping containers. If you fancy escaping the hustle and bustle of London city life, then why not take the Overground line and go to nearby Hampstead Heath. This is a beautiful and serene park which makes a lovely family day out. In Hampstead Heath you can find a zoo, an athletics track, an education centre, extensive children's facilities, three swimming ponds and a Lido. The surrounding area of Hampstead is also filled with cute little shops for you to wander around. Getting around The flat is located on a quieter road (you still are in the Center of London) with one-way traffic and next to a City Bike rental station which is a lovely way to explore the city. You will be a short stroll away from the Old Street Tube Station (5 min walk) and Hoxton Square, the epicentre of Shoreditch. The City Financial District, Liverpool Street Station, Barbican Theatre, Spitalfields Market and Columbia Flower Market are all a 10-15 minutes (slow) walk away. Old Street is the nearest station to the apartment, just a 9 minute walk away. This connects you to the Northern Line meaning you can get to iconic London sites in no time at all, or fit in some shopping on Oxford Street! There are also plenty of buses that will take you all over the city. Exploring London could hardly be easier! Other things to note - The property is on the second floor, and there is no elevator in the building. The flat is located on the top floor so you will need to take two storeys up to get to the flat. However once there you will notice how nice it is inside! The flat is a duplex so the bedrooms are on the floor above the living room (sorry some more stairs). The flat is not recommended for those who have mobility issues and parents are required to watch out for their little ones on the stairs. The oven has stopped working and we are looking to fix it. However there is a hob and microwave so you should be fine :)
